More drama at Reeves Detention Center?!  Is it another uprising?  Nope, this time its 3 of the corrections officers that have been arrested for corruption and smuggling.  Is it any wonder that these prisoners rose up twice in recent months?  Many are being detained indefinitely for immigration, where they languish in a privatized prison that has horrible food and healthcare… and on top of that the guards are totally corrupt.  If the guards will smuggle, what other crimes do they take part in?  Sadly, this is the same story at prisons all across America.  How do most drugs and contraband get in?!  We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again:  the guards.  It is too profitable for these workers to resist.  The CO’s are the most powerful gang inside the prisons!!

PECOS, Texas (AP) – Three employees at a county-owned but privately run West Texas prison are accused of taking bribes to smuggle in contraband.

All three worked at the Reeves County Detention Center in Pecos.

Prosecutors today announced the indictment of prison case manager Moises B. Martinez Jr. and guard Sylvia Castillo Chairez. Both were indicted last week in Midland.

Jacob C. Guzman was indicted Jan. 28, though defense lawyer Dan Wade believes a second indictment was issued last week.

Martinez and Chairez turned themselves in today. Guzman surrendered earlier.

They’re accused of taking cash to smuggle in contraband including tobacco and cell phones.

Wade declined comment on the Guzman case.

Court records don’t list lawyers for Martinez or Chairez.

The Reeves County Detention Center, where inmates rioted twice since December, is run by the Florida-based GEO Group.
